Rape by American and British troops occurred as well but was suppressed by the west. An example of the supression was refusal of british and american publishers to publish the book on American rapes in Germany (Taken by force by J. Robert Lilly).

I just recently learned that both my grandpa's sister and his mom were raped by American soldiers in 1945 and cannot believe that this was an isolated incident. It's very upsetting to me that no-one ever seems to talk about it, while to this very day Russians are considered monsters for doing the exact same thing.

US Troops did rape German women, my mum was raped by black american soldiers in Moenchengladbach in 1945 when she was 14.

However it wasnt unwritten policy as in the Red Army, US and British troops were punished for rape, it was inevitable that rapes would occur with a couple of million young men, mostly conscripted into service, on the move. however by all accounts the US troops admired the german citizens for their hardworking ethics and their ability to get on with their lives in harrowing times.

The soviets despised the germans for the years of atrocity that russia had suffered.
